Bribie Island Internet is a "real" ISP
(not a commission agent) and provides real-time responses for support
and account management. The most notable differences are:

traps
- Real-time account management and
support (in english)
- Broadband connections are "business
grade"
- Broadband connections are assigned a
fixed IP number
- 24 x 7 x 365 phone and email support
- Free onsite installation for local
users
- On site technical support for local
users
- Current dialup users can keep
the same email address
- Only 4.5c/Mb for excess data (not
15c/Mb as with other ISPs)
Requirements
- A normal phone line
- Be located within 3.5 km from your
local exchange

Setup costs
New connections require payment in
advance for the "connection fee" and the first month's rental. If you
don't already have an ADSL modem you can select and order one from our
online catalogue. All new modem
installations in the Bribie area can be installed by our technicians
for free if required.
- Connection fee: $110
-
Transfer from another service: $45
-
Speed change: $55
Users currently connected through
another service can easily transfer their account to Bribie Island
Internet for
only $45 instead of the initial $110 connection fee.
Contract
Broadband connections need to be
enabled at your local phone exchange and to a fixed phone number.
Installation, modification and removal of a Broadband service incurs
costs to us from Telstra, therefore a contract of 6 months minimum term is required for all
Broadband connections. The removal of a service also incurs cost to us
so cancellations before the contract matures will incur a
disconnection fee.
Onsite support
On site and in home support is
available to local users by our technicians who can manage your
account settings directly.
Getting connected
Whether transferring from another
service or establishing a new connection, you need to complete the
online application here.
Selecting the plan that is right for
you
How much download allowance do you
need? If you use the Internet for email and a bit of research you'll
find that an allowance of 200 Mb will cover you. If you are a business
or student that uses the Internet a lot, or frequently use chat forums
you may need 500 Mb. If you are downloading pirated music and videos
your usage can be a lot more and one of the higher usage plans should
be used.
If you are downloading pirated media,
please be warned that new regulations are coming into force very soon
which will force ISPs to disconnect reported offenders... all
ISPs will soon be required by law to disconnect Broadband
offenders and Telcos will be required to disconnect the phone service
of dialup offenders.
